Alternative Treatments

I a woke to my wife tossing and turning and a feeling that something was not right.
I prompted the question are you OK dear her answer was normal but obviously up set. ‘I think I have toselitus’ Far from a doctor my suspicions arose. Tonsillitis your voice sounds fine maybe a little stiffly but I’m not sure about your diagnosis.
Any way I left her be she was working that day I was not for once I had the Saturday off so I relaxed and went back to sleep and allowed her to proceed to get changed.
Next thing I awoke to a rattle at the door. I had fallen a sleep and by the time my wife had arrived at work her tonsillitis had really set in. And she decided she had to return home to relax and rest.
I went straight to the medical cabinet and got the Manuka Honey. Flavoured Manuka honey this one was. Boysenberry 15 UMF just the thing to kick that nasty tonsillitis in the butt. One tea spoon of this washed down by a glass of filtered water. The results were astounding comments of instant relief. I concluded her comments with the reason of this was that because of the viscosity of the honey if gently laid a a lining around the effected area soothing the throat.
The day went on the comments got worse. Aches and pains, screaming head ache. Back to the medical a href=”http://www.rydergifts.co.uk/wordpress/?attachment_id=152″ rel=”attachment wp-att-152″>
cabinet I grabbed the Bee Venom Balm and gave her a nice massage to break down any tensions. Again she commented on the instant relief. So again I serenaded her with my knowledge. telling her that bee Venom had been used for centuries to treat such aliments as arthritis, rheumatism, back pain, skin diseases and was just what she need to cure her aches and pains instant relief and it’s also excellent for the skin. Though she nodded silently as she nodded off to sleep.
As she was resting I something occurred to me. I have experienced these symptoms before. The aching head, the aching bones, the sleepless nights and I was sure I had come down with tonsillitis but this was worse. I know this because I tried to explain that I knew how she felt. But she concluded ‘This is worse trust me’!! The poor thing.
She had contracted the dreaded Man Flu.
What was once thought to only effect the Man had now mutated into such a form that the female is now
susceptible to infection and this case was serious. Something I knew the general antibiotic was no match for, the only cure true known cure was rest, relaxation, and sex. That’s right people sex it may cause only temporary relief but it seemed to do the trick.
It’s funny that any other serious illness and diseases such as man flu, sex would be the last thing on someones mind but this is the big tell tail sign of Man Flu. In such times of genuine fatigue the human body was definitely in a state of agony. A glass of water seemed like a painful marathon. But some how the human body brings on a reserved fuel source to run up the stairs energy for sex. This truly is an amazing survival strategy.
Dating back to the Roman times Man flu has hindered man kind and baffled doctors what seems to be a common cold or a runny shows far greater symptoms and lasts any thing from a couple of days to weeks sometimes even months. And there is no well know cure Manuka honey has show signs of relieving the symptoms in some cases but even this is no match, constant pampering, complete rest research has proven to be the best cure. Clinical tests have proven that people are more likely to contract the dreaded Man Flu during times of stress though other than this very little is know and cases can vary considerably from person.
Beware people and be vigilant for the tell tale signs. This is a very true story based on true life events.
Man flu is mutating and women are now susceptible the world will never be the same again

HURTS SO GOOD
Sunday, November 23rd, 2008
Another remarkable product which is produced from the amazing little honey bee is Bee Venom.
Its not a new fact but Bee Venom has slowly made is way into western medicine and it’s use is increasing to this day.
Chinese manuscipt talk of using be stings for over 2000 years to treat arthritis, rheumatism, back pain, skin diseases. In this modern age it has even been proven as an effective alternative therapy to treat multiple sclerosis, lyme disease and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Melittin, a polypeptide, makes up 50 per cent of the dry weight of bee venom and is one of the most potent anti-inflammatory agents known. It works in the body by stimulating the release of cortisol, a natural steroid hormone, secreted by your adrenal cortex. Melittin also has antioxidant properties and has been found to lower blood pressure.
Bee Venom therapy is praticed by health practioners and apiatherapists who inject bee Venom into the patient who would first be checked to see if there is an alergic reaction.
As Normal as a bee sting there would generally be some swelling. Infact the more the better it would mean a greater resistance, therefore a greater production of cortisol and a faster recovery.
These days there are various products available on the market with excellent some excellent results reviews. These products can be taken orally or used topically with out the adverse side effects and swelling though if you do have an allergy to bees it’s best keep away.

Beautiful Linden Leaves
Monday, November 10th, 2008
Linden Leaves was founded on the belief that a healthy product must be built from fresh ingredients. Working from New Zealand gives us unrivalled access to fresh, whole ingredients, which we combine with the pick of international pure fragrances and essential oils to create products to nourish the skin and nurture the soul.
What’s in a name?
Originating in New Zealand in 1995, the Linden Leaves name was chosen because of the qualities embodied by these simple, beautiful, light green
leaves which grace the Linden tree.
Also known as a lime tree, tilleul, or wild lime, the Linden is an elegant, straight-stemmed tree which celebrates each spring by dressing itself in prolific, sweetly scented, white honey-filled blossom. Each of its many delicate leaves forms the shape of heart, and they dance together at the lightest hint of a breeze.
The Linden is a cherished tree with a long association with well-being. A tree of knowledge, in Classical times its bark was used as a paper, known as ‘liber’, which came to mean book, and later became ‘library’. The Linden was the chosen tree of the goddess Freya, the goddess of love, and was later considered sacred by early Europeans who performed marriage ceremonies under its protective leafy canopy, to bring love and prosperity.
But Linden leaves are more than beautiful. They combine beauty and function through the significant amounts of minerals and nutrients they store within their heart-shaped forms, which help to maintain the nutrient balance of the soil.
Linden leaves themselves are also symbolic of peace. Infusions of Linden leaves and blossoms are sipped to quiet the mind and bring peace to the spirit. Linden teas have been infused to bring about well being for many hundreds of years. They are prepared to promote stress relief and relaxation, to facilitate breathing, and to combat colds, sore throats, headaches, fevers and indigestion.
The Linden grows wild and in gardens and parks in temperate climates the world over, including Christchurch, New Zealand, where Linden Leaves was founded. The famous avenue in Berlin ‘Unter den Linden’ was named in honour of the Linden tree, and many literary works sing its praises, including “The Tale of Tinúviel” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
At Linden Leaves we take heart from the pure beauty of nature and the strength of function which is seamlessly integrated within a single leaf.

What Is Phenol
Sunday, September 7th, 2008
To give people an idea of the potency of the activity of Manuka Honey it is measure in UMF.
Unique Manuka Factor this is scientifically tested by testing it against phenol.
A UMF of 10 would be equivalent to a 10% mixture of phenol when tested for antibiotic propeties.
There is much much point in saying this if you are not aware of what phenol is.
Phenol is a toxic substance which comes in both natural and synthetics forms and is used in small doses in a lot of every day chemical from mouth washes to strong disinfectants and is used in medical practices as an antiseptic or anesthetic.
Phenol is also primarily used in for the production of phenolic resins in the manufacture of nylons and other synthetic fibers. And is also used in as an antiseptic and medical preparations such as mouthwash and throat lozenges.
It is not known whether phenol is carcinogenic though there is no roof that it is.
Though Short term to the exposure to phenol in the air can cause respiratory irritation, head aches, and burning eyes. Exposure to the skin in high amount has caused severe burning, liver damage, dark urine, heart palpitations and death,
Ingestion of high concentrations of phenol has resulted in internal burns and death.
So just as a word of warning and an illustration of the effectiveness of Manuka Honey. Phenol is not a grandmas remedy in is a highly toxic and volatile substance. But this is what Active Manuka honey is scientifically tested against to give it UMF rating.
Manuka honey is not toxic and natural remedy well worth it’s recognition

The Magic Of Manuka Honey
Sunday, September 7th, 2008
Dating back to the ancient Greeks Honey has been know and used for thousands of years for it’s medicinal properties even during the second world war honey was carried and used to treat the wounds of soldiers.
It’s medicinal purposes are due to it’s contents of hydrogen peroxide formed in a slow release manner which can vary in different honeys.
Manuka honey is a different form of honey which is gathered in New Zealand from the Manuka Bush which grows uncultivated throughout the country.
This honey has been known for years by locals and is now being scientifically proven to be far superior normal honeys for it’s antibacterial properties. Though even after 20 years of research scientists still have no idea of exactly what it is, though has been tested an labelled as it Unique Manuka Factor.(UMF)
UMF is tested scientifically by testing the UMF of the against standard antiseptics such as carbolic and phenol for it’s ability to fight against bacteria.
An active honey with the UMF of 10+ has a potency equivalent of 10% phenol
An active honey with the UMF of 15+ has a potency equivalent of 15% phenol and so on.
It has been tested on bacteria ,fungi , protozoa such as staphylococcus aureas which is among the most common wound infecting bacteria, and also many antibiotic resistant strains such as MRSA which were both among the most sensitive organisms of the product.
The reason for it’s success along side normal honeys is still heavily unknown.
But it is know that UMF is not effected by the catalyse enzymes present in the body tissue and serum. It will break down the peroxide content to a certain degree which is the major anti bacterial factor in all forms of honey and there for reduce its activities, and properties against the organism.
Where in an Active UMF honey they hydrogen is more stable and the UMF is unaffected.
Active Manuka Honey is the only honey available for sale which contains this additional antibacterial component known as UMF and there is evidence that these 2 properties have a synergistic action.
Honey has grown in respect and though out the ages honey as a therapeutic alternative though is now being tested in trials through out New Zealand and the world and used to fight off some antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.
Though it must be noted that all Manuka honeys are not of the same levels of antibacterial properties it is for this reason the UMF has been trademarked by its produces
Anything over a 10+ UMF is recommended and thought to have the most beneficial against bacteria.
I would be interested to hear from any people and there experiences through using Manuka honeys or any other forms of honey

Manuka Honey and Skin
Sunday, September 7th, 2008
Once again this amazing natural resource has given us more.
As already explained Manuka honey is known to provide antibacterial, antimicrobiological, antiviral, antiseptic and antioxidant properties.
And it’s completely natural so there is no need for you body to build a resistance against it.
Even in the chemical industry this is hard to beat and it’s no where near as aggressive as methylated spirits.
It is widely being used to treat wounds and assist with it’s anti scaring properties, its also been very good news for eczema suffers. Treating eczema with excellent results.
Well despite saying all of this I will spell it out. Manuka Honey is excellent for the skin.
Even it ancient times honey was mixed with milk to keep their skin looking more vibrant and heathy.
It has the ability to absorb and maintain moisture as well as potent against free radicals and UV light supporting the skins ability to rejuvenate and refresh depleted skin cells.
Experts have found that 63% of all females complain of developing sensitive skin. Many of these complaints can be traced back to an over complicated skin care schedules, and chemicals found in the products they are using.
These can range from burning, reddening, or just a rash. But they aren’t a good look.
Bearing in mind what I have just said Manuka honey has the ability to treat these syptoms and bee used as an every day beauty treatment.
I know what you are all thinking. It’s either a good look to walk around with your face smothered in world famous nectar.
But there are options and I feel and know it’s an option worth looking into.
